To give additional users, such as a web designer, access to your website files you can create an additional FTP account in your cPanel. This allows you to give a web designer access to your files without giving them full access to your account, which is much more secure.
First, log into your cPanel and select "FTP Accounts" under the "Files" section.
On this next page you'll fill out the details of the FTP Account, including the password used to login and which directory the account will have access to. If you want to give full access to all of our files, in the "Directory" field type in a single forward slash (/). If you want to give access to only the public files for your website, use "public_html" as the "Directory" (this is the more common option).
If you want to create an FTP account for an Addon domain, keep in mind that one is automatically created during the set up of an Addon domain in cPanel. When that FTP account is created, it is also pointed to the document root for that Addon domain. For more information, please see our article Working With Your Addon Domain's FTP Account.
Once you are done, click "Create FTP Account."
After the account has been created, you'll see a confirmation message.
Please be aware that the format for additional ftp useres is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . For example, if you set the ftp username as kevin, the actual username will be This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
