When you are managing a website, there may be times when you need to locate a specific file. In this tutorial we will show you how to locate a file using the search option in the File Manager.

Finding a File:

  1. Login to your Cpanel.
  2. In the Files section, click the File Manager button.

  3. A directory selection box will pop up, check the box for Show Hidden Files, then click the Go Button.
  4. On the top right, enter the name of the file you want to search for, and click the Go button. You can also click the drop-down box labeled All Your Files, and choose to search within only the public_html, or the current directory you are in. In my tests I am searching all my files for a tpl_header.php file.

    When you click Go, it will search your files, this may take some time to complete depending on how many files you have.

  5. You will then see a window with the results of the search, double-click the file to navigate to it's location.

    You can then edit the file in the file manager.
