After a browser updates, it can experience incompatibilities on some websites or have trouble handling certain scripts. This typically results in a website displaying incorrectly, or some features/links missing.

Since Microsoft is aware this, they have included a button for viewing sites in compatibility mode. The button appears in the address bar and is only available on websites that may be incompatible with Internet Explorer 10.

In this tutorial we will show you how to use the compatibility view for MS Internet Explorer 10.

How to use the Compatibility View button:

  1. When you are on a website that you think is having compatibility issues, click the compatibility view button compatibility-view-button in the address bar.
You will then be shown the same site using Microsoft's compatibility view.
    changing to compatibility view
  2. Click the compatibility view button again to return to the standard view.

Here is a website in standard view with compatibility issues:
view of the plesk builder without compatibility view
Here is the same website in compatibility mode, as you can see the site now displays correctly:
    plesk builder in compatibility view

Congratulations, now when Microsoft IE 10 is having trouble displaying a website successfully, you know how to view the website in Compatibility mode.
