Hi disundi, Welcome to Web Hosting Hub. I hope I can help clear some things up for you regarding subdomains, addon domains, and folders. I think there may be some confusion about subdomains. Subdomains are like a domain with a domain. They are great for a separate area of your site, for example blog.yourdomain.com or store.yourdomain.com. Addon domains are how you set up a completely separate website that is not part of your main domain. Before creating an Addon domain, you will want to first register the new domain name. Please see our article Add another domain name for step-by-step instructions for adding a domain to your account. Please see our article on working with Addon, Parked and Subdomains for more details on the differences between them. I'm sorry you had trouble installing WordPress through Fantastico. When adding software in Fantastico, there are a few important things to keep in mind: You can only install one script per folder. In other words, if you install WordPress to the document root of your main domain (public_html) you will not be able to install another instance of WordPress (or other software) into the same folder. You can however either create a subdomain and install software there, or you can create a subfolder during the Fantastico installation process. If you have installed software through Fantastico and no longer wish to use it, please make sure you remove the software through Fantastico by following the instructions outlined in our Removing Software in Fantastico De Luxe article. Finally, if you have installed software through Fantastico on a subdomain or Addon domain and you no longer want to use that subdomain or Addon domain, first remove the software via Fantastico. Then, go into the subdomains or Addon domains area in cPanel and remove the subdomain or Addon domain. One last important note. Removing an Addon domain or subdomain from their respective areas in cPanel does not delete the folder within File Manager. If you are sure you no longer want to keep the folder for an Addon or subdomain, use the File Manager in cPanel to delete the folder that was created for the subdomain or Addon domain. I hope this helps to clarify things. Please let us know if you have any questions or need any additional assistance. Regards, Christi N. |
