Our site as concrete5 version 5.6.2.1, and I want to update to v5.6.3.3. When I clicked the download button, there was a fatal error. (See below) Then the radio buttons displayed with choices of the incremental backups.

I backed up the database and also went into cPanel and did a Check DB. There weren't any errors, so I didn't run the repair.

I've updated other sites with no problem, but I don't want to perform the update on this one until I find out why there is an error. I am not confident I can properly restore the site if a problem arises from the update.

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'ADODB_Exception' with message 'mysqlt error: [2006: MySQL server has gone away] in EXECUTE("SELECT TABLE_NAME, CASE WHEN TABLE_TYPE = 'VIEW' THEN 'V' ELSE 'T' END FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA=SCHEMA()") ' in /home/firstp15/public_html/updates/concrete5.6.2.1_updater/concrete/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb-exceptions.inc.php:78 Stack trace: #0 /home/firstp15/public_html/updates/concrete5.6.2.1_updater/concrete/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb.inc.php(1074): adodb_throw('mysqlt', 'EXECUTE', 2006, 'MySQL server ha...', 'SELECT TABLE_NA...', false, Object(ADODB_mysqlt)) #1 /home/firstp15/public_html/updates/concrete5.6.2.1_updater/concrete/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb.inc.php(1049): ADOConnection->_Execute('SELECT TABLE_NA...', false) #2 /home/firstp15/public_html/updates/concrete5.6.2.1_updater/concrete/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb.inc.php(2334): ADOConnection->Execute('SELECT TABLE_NA...') #3 /home/firstp15/public_html/updates/concrete5.6.2.1_updater/concrete/libraries in/home/firstp15/public_html/updates/concrete5.6.2.1_updater/concrete/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb-exceptions.inc.php on line 78

Hello,

Thank you for your question about a fatal MySQL error when updating Concrete5. Since the database responded, then went away (2006: MySQL server has gone away), it may have been a momentary server issue.

I recommend making a Full website backup, and storing it safely (for example on an external drive).

Then, try and perform the update again. Let us know if it completes, or you get a different error.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

Thank you,
John-Paul
