Hi, I have my website sabrina-horn.com and I also purchased the domain sabrinahornphotography.com. I would like to redirect everyone that goes to sabrinahornphotography.com to my new website sabrina-horn.com.
How do I do that? Please explain in baby steps. I am not very good at webhosting yet :)
Thanks so much!

Hello Sabrinia, and thanks for the question.

It sounds like you'd be interested most likely in setting up a parked domain.

A Parked domain is simply an alias, or another way to access your Primary domain on your account.

So for instance if you have sabrina-horn.com as your Primary domain, you could add the sabrinahornphotography.com as a Parked domain so that it reflects the exact same website content.

Also any email accounts that you have setup on your Primary domain will also be usable on the Parked domain. So if you have the account user@sabrina-horn.com setup, and someone sends an email to user@sabrinahornphotography.com, it would still end up in that same Inbox.

It also looks like you'll want to be sure to point your domain to our name servers. That way when someone types it in their web-browser it knows to look on our server to figure out that it's a Parked domain. As currently it looks like you're just using your domain Registrar's landing page for that new domain.

If you had any other questions at all, please let us know!

Hi Jacob,

Thanks so much for your reply! Very helpful. I tried to add the oparked domain and this is what came up:

"Another user owns “sabrinahornphotography.com”. The administrator must remove the DNS zone for “sabrinahornphotography.com” if the zone is no longer in use."

But I own the domain and I haven't registered it here...
Would it be easier if I just sent you my login data and you could set it up for me? Pretty please?

Kind regards
Sabrina

Hello Sabrina,

No problem at all, sorry to hear you're still having some issues. I took a look at your account, and it looks like the sabrinahornphotography.com domain did get added as a Parked domain.

I'm not sure if possibly the system got your request twice, and the second time it was letting you know it's already been added to the system or what. But it looks like it should be correctly setup in there now.

The next step would be to update the name servers for that domain to point to us.

Currently that domain's name server records look like:

Name Server: DNS1.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM
Name Server: DNS2.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM

You'd want to change those to:

Name Server: NS1.WEBHOSTINGHUB.COM
Name Server: NS2.WEBHOSTINGHUB.COM

Then you just have to wait roughly 24 hours for the DNS settings to fully propagate across the Internet.

If you're still having any issues, or have any further questions at all, please let us know.
