Hi there,
I want have a office printer / scanner that I want to setup to use my mail server, but the device doesn't support secure connections. It works great using smtp on port 25 with no security. I would like to be able to connect to my mail server and use my account on my hosting plan (mocabeem.com) Can this be done?
Thanks,
Matt

Hello Mocabeem,

Our mail servers work with or without the secure connections. So, you do have the option to connect to the server using a non-SSL setting. Here's what it would look like using your account:

Mail server incoming (using POP): mail.mocabeem.com port = 110
Mail server incoming (using IMAP): mail.mocabeem.com port = 143

Outgoing mail server: mail.mocabeem.com port = 587 (or 25)

NOTE: You didn't specify the mail protocol you were using, so I have provided both settings for POP and IMAP. Outgoing server is based on SMTP.

If you find that the non-secure settings are NOT working, you may need to check firewall settings or other network settings to make sure that the ports are being allowed access as listed above. Additionally, it is very common that Port 25 is blocked by Internet Service Providers - often to prevent spammers from exploiting the port.

I hope this helps to clarify your connection issues. If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Regards,

Arnel C.
