Editing Apple/Mac Mail Settings

I set up an email account and tried to add it to the accounts in my MAC mail. After some difficulty I followed the procedure described in:
http://www.webhostinghub.com/help/tools/editing-mac-email-account
This seemed to work fine and it posted the emails in my account but when I ran the MAIL CONNECTION DOCTOR I found a red status light for the SMTP account, mail.woodleytree.com:woodley@woodleytree.com
This carried the message, "Trying to log into this account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct"
Is this something to be concerned about? If so, how do I correct it?
Thank you,
Robert Woodley

Hello Robert,

Thank you for your question on MacMail connection. It seems to be trying to say it is having issues connecting to the email account with the SMTP settings. I suppose it is testing the connection?

In any case, as long as your MacMail is connected and working, this should not matter. If it is not working correctly, then I would take the advice of the connection doctor and check the settings for SMTP in MacMail.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M
