I've recently set up Thunderbird to handle my email for my site hosted by WebHostingHub and have ran into a problem with the password.

No matter how many times I retry or change the password for my email address on the cPanel Thunderbird won't accept it. I tried setting up a dummy account with a simple address and password, and still couldn't access via Thunderbird.

Is anyone having this same difficulty? Has anyone found the problem?

Hi ExternalSynergy,

I'm sorry you're having trouble setting up Thunderbird to check your email. From what you are describing, this looks like SMTP Authentication is not turned on in Thunderbird. Please check your Outgoing Server settings (Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server > Edit) and make sure that Authentication method is set to Normal password. Check that your outgoing port is set to either 587 (non SSL connection) or 465 (SSL connection)For more information, please see our article on setting up email in Thunderbird.

If this does not resolve the issue, please feel free to either update your question or add a comment below with any error messages you are receiving in Thunderbird.

Regards,

Christi N.
