It says "permission denied" after I change it, and won't let me upload a new one with Dreaweaver or upload one directly. I already changed the permission to "0777" to no avail. Help. Thanks!

It sounds like Dreamweaver may not be correctly connecting to the server using your cPanel username and password. Check to ensure that your cPanel username and password are correct when connecting over FTP. You may also change any file permissions, as well as upload any files by using the cPanel File Manager.

Hello Enhoep, and thanks for your question.

Sorry to hear you're having issues modifying your settings.php file. If you take a look at our changing file permissions guide, you can see that .php files should actually have the permissions of 644 for Read, Write | Read Only | Read Only.

This is because we run suPHP on our servers for better PHP security.

Please let us know if you continue to have issues after changing the permission to 644.
