I am using FileZilla to upload and download pages to the server.

It is working OK in both directions except for one minor problem.

When downloading pages via FTP a blank line is added between every line of code. This makes my pages twice as long as they need to be.

This is not a problem when uploading to the server, only downloading from the server to my PC for editing.

How do I correct this issue?

Hello WayneAdams,

I tried to duplicate your issue, but couldn't do it in normal NOTEPAD. However, I could see it in Notepad++. When I brought in a PHP file to there, I could see the carriage returns. When I turn on show symbols in Notepad++, I can see the CFs that are creating the spaces.

I spoke with a Systems person here and asked what would be the best course of action for you. He suggested that you go into the Settings for FileZilla and remove the PHP extension from the AUTOMATIC list (where Filezilla determines the file types it opens). Once you remove it, then it will load it as a binary, you won't see the problem again. You could also just load everything as a binary. But we were just trying to keep the PHP files from loading as ASCII files.

If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Regards,

Arnel C.
