I'm new here. I have set up ftp and I'm able to connect, however, when I do connect, I can't tell what folder I'm uploading file to. There is no folder name shown. How do I upload to public_html? Thanks.

Hi KenM,

If you log in via FTP and do not see any folders, then it sounds like you're logging in with a ftp account created within cPanel, and not the main ftp account. For example, instead of logging in with a username like userna5, you're using a username such as user@domain.com (just like an email address).

If this is the case, then you may already be in the public_html folder. If you did not create the ftp account, then you'll need to touch base with the user that created the account for you. If you did create the account, then check the home folder listed for the account within the "FTP Accounts" section of cPanel. If it says public_html, then you are logging straight into that folder.

If you however are using userna5 as the username (and not user@domain.com) and you don't see any files / folders, then it sounds like files and folders have been deleted. You'll want to touch base with our support team and request that they recreate your account as you're missing important files.

I hope this helps!

Thanks,

- Brad
