I have not changed my publishing settings at all, ever. Today when I updated my site and went to publish it, for the first time I received the following message: "The site cannot be published to the specific location. Cannot publish to the specific host via FTP. Authorization failed". I do not even know what FTP is. Please help!

Hello championl, and thank you for your question.

It sounds like you might be using incorrect FTP credentials. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is the method you use to upload files from your local computer to a server. You can read our guide on getting started with FTP for more information regarding this.

You mention not changing your publishing settings, are you using Microsoft FrontPage or another editor for your website?

You can reset your cPanel password, which also updates your FTP password in case you've forgotten it. Then you would just need to ensure the username and password you're entering into FrontPage or your FTP client matches up with what you set it to on the server.

Please let us know if you're still running into any problems or if you have any further questions.
