Hello! Sorry to hear you are having issues with connecting to MySQL remotely from a local Windows machine. As long as you are using a good remote connection program such as HeidiSQL or MySQL Workbench, the specific type of computer you are using to connect will not matter (Mac, Windows, Linux, etc.) Of course, be sure you have set your account to allow your local network's IP address to connect to the server. Next, check all the settings you have in the connection program to ensure they are correct. For example, a common mistake is to use 'localhost' as a hostname. This will not be correct as it is a remote connection. In that case, you want to use the server name itself, or the domain name (assuming it is pointed to the server.) The database name and password are located in the database information under the Databases category in the cPanel. The name should be in two parts like userna5_dbname in this case, userna5 is your cpanel username and the dbname portion is the specific database name. You will want to use the whole thing. The password will be the one for that specific database user, not your cpanel password. Check the first link above in my answer for more information on the settings. After all those are correct, you should be able to connect without any issue. Kindest Regards, Scott M |
