I want to update to PHP 5.5.0 (to have MySQL Native Driver) from 5.3.27 (which the stats in cPanel say I have). I tried to update via the PHP Configuration page, but while it says php.ini was successfully updated, the stats and the phpinfo page still show 5.3.27. How can I change it?

Sometimes, as changing your PHP version in cPanel simply writes to the .htaccess file, this can fail depending your your particular scenario. To resolve the issue, you can make this change manually by inserting the following line into your .htaccess file:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php55 .php
