Our nonprofit group, the Syracuse Poster Project, needs help troubleshooting the black list and filter functions of Horde. We have set up black lists and filters, but they don't work. The black list has never diverted black-listed emails to the designated folder. The filters are set up to divert emails tagged as ***spam***. That filter appears to work, but much of the spam we receive doesn't bear the ***spam*** tag, so doesn't get filtered out. We have tried many of the online forums without finding a solution.

Our setting shows below:

All of the following:
subject contains ***SPAM***

DO THIS:
Deliver to folder spam

Hello Posterproject,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with using the blacklist and filter functions of Horde. The blacklist option in Horde is based on banning specific email addresses. I would highly recommend using spam assassin in place of the blacklist options within Horde. Unfortunately, there are many ways where SPAM emails can easily bypass a simple blacklist. Please review the link the tutorial and see if SpamAssassin would be a better solution to your spam prevention issues.

I hope this helps to answer your question, please let us know if you require any further assistance.

Regards,
Arnel C.
