I have a zipped file (.gz) that I need to gunzip and process through a cron job on a daily basis. What is the best way to do this? I have a PHP script that unzips but this seems to be very slow (5 minutes + on server, versus 12 secs on development server).

If I click on 'Extract' from the File Manager, it works in seconds. How can I get that type pf performance in a cron job?

Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for the question about the cron job running the extract slower. A cron job is typically made to run on off-peak hours and run in the background. So it may be that the cron is running into resource issues where it may not have as much as when you run the extract live. I did look around for documentation reporting an issue with an extract running in a cron, but I could find nothing. If you can provide more information on the server you're running plus any details on the script involved, then we can investigate the issue in more depth.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Regards,
Arnel C.
