I recently installed Joomla to the root directory through Fantastico without knowing that the version being install was the 1.0. Now it is not in the installation overview and there’s no menu for it in Fantastico to remove it through the “current installations” like the others. How do I uninstall it and install the 1.6 version in the same directory? My account is new so I don’t have any important information.

Hello errecuatro,

I'll be happy to assist you! First, just to confirm, when you click on Joomla 1.0 in Fantastico de Luxe your install is not listed under "Current Installations"? That is unusual, but it will make setting up 1.6 easier since it appears that Fantastico did not capture the install.

If Joomla 1.0 can not be removed through Fantastico, it can still be removed by deleting all the files and folders installed by Joomla. First log into your cPanel and navigate to the File Manager. After you are in the File Manager if you logged in to the Web Root you will automatically be in the public_html folder. It is safe to delete anything in this folder, as this is where the files for your website are kept. Once you have deleted the files and folders in the public_html folder, then you can do a fresh install of Joomla 1.6 through Fantastico de Luxe.

If you have any other questions, just let us know!

Kevin
