Hi when I'm trying to install Joomla! 1.5 via Fantastico into root dir of my domain, I receive the following message:

"
Install Joomla 1.5 (2/3)

The installation can not be completed:

- You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.

Click on the browser's Back button to fix reported errors.
"

Please help, thanks

update:
Hi ChristiNi I'm having trouble with my kdlstu5 account. I tried your recommendation of removing .htaccess file but for some reason it comes back to public_html right after removal. If I change it to a different name then another .htaccess comes back.

I have not installed any other software in root.

the full error message is
"

The installation can not be completed:

Hello Zeddiath,

I'm sorry you're having trouble installing Joomla through Fantastico. I'm not sure which account or domain you are having trouble with, but here are the common causes of that type of error:

  • Having an .htaccess file in the document root folder. If this is the issue, simply rename or remove the .htaccess file using the cPanel File Manager. Be sure to select the option for Show Hidden Files (dotfiles) so that you will be able to see the .htaccess file.

  • Previously installing other software in the document root. If you have other software installed in the document root that you do not wish to use, make sure you remove that software through Fantastico.

If either of the above does not resolve this issue for you, please feel free to update us with specific information such as the domain name or the full error message you are receiving in Fantastico.

Regards,

Christi N.
