Hello Ian, and thanks for your question. Were you experiencing any other slow loading for other websites at the same time you were having problems on our servers? Are you testing the transfer rate of the server, or the loading time of your website? If you're having issues with the transfer rate of the server the best thing to do would be to run a ping and trace route test and provide our support team with those results. Many times there could be Mid-Atlantic congestion in the path your computer is taking to get to the server, and a ping a trace route test would show what kind of latencies your connection is experiencing and where it's having to hop to. If your website load time is sporadic then you would generally want to ensure that your site is fully optimized to take advantage of caching and other normal web optimization standards. I would recommend running your site through a performance analyzer such as the one from GTMetrix.com and see what it recommends to help streamline the loading of your website. If you let us know your domain name we can check for you what might be causing loading delays, such as if there were any server-wide issues at the time, or something on the website that could be optimized to reduce the load time. Please let us know if you have any further questions. - Jacob |

The most common reason why websites load slowly is that they simply were not designed with speed in mind. Generally, the first step in creating a website is a “graphic designer” who creates templates based on the ideas of the site owner (that is often not technically good ). The main objective of the graphic designer is an attractive looking interface regardless of size. And the site owner (who generally has no technical skills), wants a lot of bells and whistles, again without appreciating the impact on performance. The speed and performance of a website are points that most administrators and bloggers often overlook. Therefore, decreasing the number of visitors will be a simple consequence. If you have not yet optimized your site you can check out the tutorial on How to Install and Configure the WP Super Cache Plugin and improve the speed of your site with tips. |
