Hi Ilnaz, Will the links to gallery3 pictures change on the worpress automatically, or i will have to change them manually? When you change the main domain name on your account, if the new main domain is apart of the current subdomain, then most likely you're going to need to adjust settings within WordPress and Gallery. Changing the main domain name on your account can actually be a big thing. It changes various paths, and if you have several applications already install it will require a bit of updating to those scripts to get them to work properly again. For example, we have an article here that shows how you would need to update WordPress to work under your new domain: Installing WordPress on your Temporary URL We don't have any documentation yet on updating the settings for Gallery, but if you do have your main domain changed, let us know and we can look into further how to get Gallery working under a new domain. Changing the main domain name on your account can cause quite a few headaches for users who are not familiar with manually installing or configuring 3rd party applications, such as WordPress and Gallery. Because you first setup those scripts under one domain and then want them to run under another, many times there are setting changes that need to be made in either (or both) configuration files and databases. If you can update us in the comments of this page why you're wanting to change the main domain name on your account, we may be able to offer some advice on how to accomplish your goal without changing the main domain on your account. I hope this helps! Thanks, - Brad |

Hi Ilnaz, Great question about how changing your Primary Domain name will affect your WordPress site. Once the primary domain change is complete, you will want to update your configuration file for WordPress with the new URL. Change your WordPress URL If you are not able to access your WordPress admin after the change, you can update these URLs through your wp-config.php file, located in your site's document root (public_html). Open the wp-config.php file for editing using the cPanel File Manager and locate the line similar to: define('DB_COLLATE', ''); Add two new lines just below that line and enter in the following information (replacing newdomain.com with your actual new primary domain name): define('WP_HOME','http://newdomain.com'); define('WP_SITEURL','http://newdomain.com'); Save your changes and close the wp-config.php file. You should now be able to log into your WordPress dashboard through your new primary domain. Change your Gallery3 URL The documentation for Gallery3 does not specify where the site URL is configured. In Gallery2, this could be controlled in the "$gallery->setConfig" line of your Gallery config.php file, but I do not see that specific line in the Gallery3 config.php file. If you have any trouble with your Gallery3 installation after the domain change, the support forum at Gallery3 will probably be able to provide information on changing the Gallery3 site URL. We'll be happy to look into this further if you do have any issues after the domain change. WordPress Links One final thing you may want to look at is the Velvet Blues Update URLs WordPress Plugin. If any of your WordPress links are broken after the domain name change and after updating the site URL, this plugin can help you to repair those broken links. If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Regards, Christi N. |
