Hello,

Thanks for the question about transferring your data from your khannaco.com to khanna.com site. If you are a Web Hosting Hub customer and you're simply changing the domain name that you used for your primary site, then it's possible to simply request a primary domain change. You would still need to worry about website configuration changes, database changes (if the data in your database uses the old website name), migrating your email (if you need to move email accounts to the new domain name). The transfer of your website to a new domain name normally does involve: website files, change of configuration files (to new domain name), database transfer, change of data in database tables (if there tables containing the old domain name), migration of email (creating email accounts if they don't exist in the new domain and transferring all email from the old domain to the new). There may also be the additional issues of SSL certificates (if you had one in the old domain). Remember that SSL certificates are typically registered with a specific domain name or URL. You may need to purchase a new one for the new domain if required.

As you can see, the transfer of data from the old site may involve several steps. Another way to transfer would be to setup the new domain with the same TYPE of installation as your old one and then simply importing the database from the old to the new. Of course, this would only work if you're with a website that uses that type of structure and you may still need to work through the list of items to transfer from one website to another to make sure everything has been transferred.

If you are with a different hosting service that uses cPanel, and you want to migrate to Web Hosting Hub, then it is possible to get a complete cPanel backup and move it directly to the Hub servers. You would still need to worry about changing configuration files and changing any entries using the old domain, but everything else would transferred for you. You would need to submit a verified support ticket in order to get the cPanel transfer processed.

I hope this helps to explain the issue. Moving a website from one domain to another may seem simple, but there are several possible things that you need to consider when changing the domain name.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Regards,
Arnel C.
