Hello Alan,

Great question for anyone new to working with site files. Depending on the nature of the template you downloaded, there may be more than one way to upload it to your site. For instance, if you're working in a CMS (Content Management System) such as WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal and the template you downloaded is a theme, those are usually uploaded and installed with the CMS itself. For instance, if you have a WordPress site, you would install that theme through the WordPress dashboard.

If your template consists of HTML files that simply need to be uploaded to your account at Dreamhost, you could use an FTP program to upload your files to your site's document root. I'm not that familiar with Dreamhost, so I would recommend you consult their documentation or contact their technical support to determine the correct document root for your account.

I hope this helps you get started with your new website.

Regards,

Christi N.
