I'm trying to transfer one of my domains to Web Hosting Hub. I got the "authorization code" from the previous registrar but when I enter it (paste or type) I get an "invalid registry key" error. Suggestions? Either the previous registrar gave me the incorrect key OR whatever I was given is NOT the registry key. Is there another code associated with a site besides the registry key?

Hello LanceG,

There are two types of codes for transferring a domain. The most common one is the "Authorization Code". This is used when transferring from one domain registrar to another.

The other is the "Registry Key". This is when your current host uses the same domain registrar partner as we do, Melbourne IT. This is a completely different code from the authorization code. It usually has to be asked for specifically as well over 99% of transfers do not use it.

If the transfer is needing a "registry key" you will want to contact your current registrar and explain that you need that instead of the "authorization code". They will give you the right key and your transfer should then submit properly.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any more questions or information specific to the issue please leave a comment below so we can further assist you.

Best Regards,
Scott M
