Hello Aganzul, The main reason is that a domain transfer isn't always an instantaneous event. It can sometimes take upwards of 7-10 days. The 2 week rule is there to provide a cushion so that we don't have domains expiring in the middle of transfer - which has happened. Domains cannot be transferred if they are expired. Therefore, when you transfer, your domain should be more than 14 days from expiration. One thing to note is that if you do pay your current domain registrar and then transfer the domain, you get TWO years of domain registration - not one. And, if the domain that you are transferring is the first domain you have registered on your account, then it would be free for the first year of your hosting account. Thereafter, it would $11.99 per year. I hope this helps to clarify the issue for you. Remember that if you do intend to transfer the domain, you need have your EPP or transfer code so that you can initiate the transfer here. If you want to question the issue further, you are welcome to contact live support where they can explain the issue further over the phone. If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page. Regards, Arnel C. |
