Hello, Thanks for your question concerning the transfer of your WordPress domain.. By rule, if the domain falls within certain ICANN policy rules (ICANN is the governing body for internet domain names), then the domain registrar (which you indicated was WordPress) would be required to hold it for at least 60 days. After the 60 days have expired, you would be able to have the domain name transferred to a different domain registrar. Please understand that this doesn't necessarily mean that you have to wait the 60 days to USE the domain name. You can always change the name servers associated with the domain name and point them to a different hosting service in order to use the domain name. WordPress.com does provide instructions on how to point their domains to a different host. Please see this WordPress.com document on Moving Your Domain for further instruction. For more information on pointing name servers, check out article on the subject. We also have information on transferring domains through the Web Hosting Hub Account Management Panel (AMP). I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance please let us know! Regards, Arnel C. |
