I installed the default Guestbook page from Plesk SiteBuilder 4.5.0 and almost immediately got spam with outside links. I deleted them. and within a few days - more spam!

So I removed the guestbook entirely. Would still like to have a feedback form on my website!

What are the alternatives that a novice can install and be safe from spam and malware?

Does anyone have experience with the GBook Script - free code from an outside vendor?

Hi NOVICE1,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm sorry that you're having trouble with the Guestbook page. I'm more than happy to assist you.

One of the downfalls to having a guestbook on your website is the possibility of spam. If you want a way for your website's visitors to provide feedback to you, I'd suggest setting up the feedback form. The feedback form will allow your visitors to fill out the fields on a webpage and you'll then be emailed the results. Here's our article on setting up the feedback form in Premium Web Builder:

Creating a Feedback Form in Premium Web Builder

You mention GBook, however, I've never used it. You can use it however, it will not have the "look" and "feel" of your website. Now, we've tested the demo GBook script and it has a Captcha which protects against spam but so does the guestbook in Builder. If your spammers avoided the Captcha on your current Guestbook page, they'll likely be able to do the same in GBook.

You can set up GBook, then use an iframe to embed that guestbook into your premium web builder page of your choice. Here's an article on how to do that:

Adding third party software to Premium Web Builder

I hope this helps! If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!

Tim S
