I have had a password set up for my wp-admin directory for probably about 2 years now. I recently updated my WP site theme (evolve) to it's latest version 3.5.0. After doing so, any visitor to my site elevatebynicci.com now gets prompted to enter login and password information when this should only happen if accessing my wp-admin site. I just did some trouble shooting with the support team to no avail, so he directed me here. I definitely think it is related to the theme update. I just can't find the error.

Hello,

We're sorry to hear that you're having problems with the theme update and the URL going to Admin. When I checked your site settings for the password, it was set for the entire public_html folder. Make sure to reset that so that it's only on the wp-admin folder. It appears to be applied to the entire public_html folder. You can change this in the cPanel. See Password protecting a Directory for more info.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Regards,
Arnel C.

It doesn't appear to me to be set for the entire public folder. Also, since I've submitted this I can no longer get into my wp dashboard.

Hello schocni,

Thank you for contacting us. Password protection should be recursive, meaning it affects the child folders.

Are you able to access your WordPress Dashbaord at this time? What happens when you try to login?

Do you get an error? What error?

Thank you,
John-Paul
