Hello,
My client is testing her website and ran into this error and cannot get into her site. Of course, I can get in just fine. This is the error message she gets:

"501 Method Not Implemented
GET to [url or website's home page] not supported.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

What is causing this? I know I saw it once before too somewhere else.

Thanks!

Hello Mojosie,

I'm sorry you're client is having trouble accessing her website. 501 errors can be difficult to diagnose, so we will need a little more information to troubleshoot this further. Please update your question or add a comment below with the following information:

  1. Domain name of the website

  2. Browser and version (e.g. Firefox 9.0.1, Internet Explorer 7, etc.) your client is using when she receives the error

  3. Is she seeing this on all pages of the site or just some pages?

  4. Steps to replicate. For example, is she clicking on a link within the site when this occurs, trying to log in to an area of the site, etc.

While researching this for you, I did find one suggestion that recommends clearing the browser cache and cookies in the browser that is receiving the error.

We look forward to assisting you in resolving this error as quickly as possible.

Regards,

Christi N.
