I recently purchased a domain through Host Gator. I opted to design a custom HTML page and went through all the necessary steps to connect my local and remote servers through Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver continues to tell me that I am successfully connected through FTP. When I reached an adequate point in my design I selected site>put in order to upload my files to the remote server. Although all of these steps have been completed multiple times, when I go to my domain url all I see is the generic Host Gator graphic (none of my custom HTML is being published). Within my cPanel I can see all of the files have been uploaded successfully. Still, nothings on my site. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hello,

Sorry to hear that you're having problems with the website publishing. Typically, websites that have all of their website information properly published to the server and then don't appear can be fixed by looking at a few things.

First, make sure that your domain is registered properly and has gone through DNS propagation. This means that your domain is properly assigned to your hosting service and that you have allowed time for the internet to receive that definition. Typically, it's up to 24 hours or less.

Also, you would need to check that your files are in the correct location for your host and that the FIRST file (normally an "index" file) is labeled correctly and in the right place.

In briefly looking at your domain name, it appears to have been registered today. You may simply have to wait for propagation to complete. It may take up to 24 hours. If you continue to have problems, you may need to talk to your hosting service. We can't look at your files since you're a customer with another hosting service.

Hope that helps!
Kindest regards,
Arnel C.

Wonderful, thank you so much for all of this helpful information! I will continue to watch my domain throughout the next 24 hours and let you know if things continue to seem weird after that. Thanks again!
