broken Google Analytics perhaps via edit.php file

Recently, I needed to edit the date of a post. As I did that, I got an error message about a xxx_edit.php file (but didn't catch exactly which file). At least since that date, and perhaps even before that, Google Analytics hasn't captured a single hit on my website, even though I've even visited it from my own mobile (rather than as the admin). So, I finally had a chance today to look around for that xxx_edit.php file and see if something was obviously broken. What I do see is that in the edit.php file under wp-admin, the last line about ABSPATH does _not_ end with ?> like I would have expected based on looking at other lines of code in the php files. I'm not very familiar with php, but this just doesn't look right. If this is incorrect, then somehow 2 of my sites became corrupted in this same way.
Please advise.

Hello,

Sorry to hear about the problem with the edited post. We need a little more information about where and when the problem is happening. What was the exact error message? Can you provide a URL where this happening? It is possible that something happened to the file, but if that is the case, this is not a common occurrence. When I looked this up in the WordPress forums, they mentioned that the closing tags were not required. If you can give me some specifics, we can look into the matter further.

You may also want to check out the page that Google provides for troubleshooting Google Analytics: Troubleshooting the Tracking code. They provide a lot of information that may help you pinpoint the problem that you're seeing with the website tracking data.

Please let us know if you have any further questions comments.

Regards,
Arnel C.
