I have installed the Brandon WP theme on my subdirectory.

When I use the MuffinOptions to add 2 columns of data (an image on left column and text on the right) and hit update everything disappears.

This is what the developer of the theme has stated:

I have installed the theme and have used it before as shown here: http://ehub41.webhostinghub.com/~medplu5/

The Piggy Bank image and text next to it are two columns.

I have a new site here: http://ehub41.webhostinghub.com/~medplu5/medplushs.com/

Below the intro text is a divider (added via *add section) then divider.

Below that I have two columns set to 1/2 width. When I add image link data or text content to either column and SAVE CHANGES and then update my page it DISAPPEARS!

Why?

Their Response --------------

The problem is with your hosting settings. Probably you got limits on post arrays and that`s why everything disappear. In this case you should contact with your hosting provider because the only thing we can recommend is wordpress and theme re-installation.

The people at WebHostingHub have already edited my htaccess.file to make my php.ini have memory limits on all directories and sub directories and I have also added the following code to my wp-config.php file:

define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

Do you have any idea why it's not working?

The server is operating normally and is not causing issues within your theme, however, it appears that the content using the theme's page builder has not been entered which is why you are not seeing it.

I have compared the content between the fully functional site and the one you are having trouble with in which I see that there is a large amount of content missing there.

Replicating their page builder options from the functional site onto the new site will resolve the issues you are having.

Actually Jeff that is incorrect. The 2 Columns in the new theme delete the content whenever I enter them and hit save/update.

When I go to the page (homepage) within my WP Admin for this theme and I add a new section, then add the 2 columns I add a title and then add a photo link and in the second column add text and hit update it simply vanishes once I hit update as if I never entered it.

I'm unsure of what it is you are asking me or otherwise suggesting me to do.

It appears that I may have misunderstood your initial question. I now see that the content does disappear in which I believe I may have identified the issue.

On your functional site, you are using an older version of WordPress which is 3.8.1 and on the new site you are running version 3.9.1. As things change in WordPress versions, theme developers may need to change their code as well.

That said, I do see that the developer of the theme states that their theme is compatible with 3.9, although you are not running the most recent version of the theme. You are currently running version 1.6.1 of the Brandon theme. Updating to the current version of 1.7.1 may resolve the issues.

Can I download the new version and reinstall it without losing what I have already done?

Hello Medplus,

Updating a theme should not remove any data that is already there, much like switching themes would not. However it is always recommended to make a backup before making any changes so you can go back if needed.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M

Hello MedPlus,

Yes, try temporarily removing them form the public_html/themes/default/modules and see if that helps.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M
