Hi!

The widget visibility option is not working as desired. It was fine until last night, I cannot recall if it changed due to the updates I made. So, what's happening now is that when I select to "Hide" some widgets from displaying on the front page, it doesn't work. It still appears on the front page. Selecting it to show on all posts pages also doesn't work. It shows only on a few pages. This is happening for everything that has been deployed in the primary sidebar. Here is my blog: http://notacurry.com/.

Any help will be really appreciated.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting is about your WordPress issue. When you say 'hiding' are you meaning that you want to remove them from the widget list? Or specifically hide them on certain pages? We would need to know exactly what it is you are doing so we can attempt to duplicate on our side. Please provide all steps taken to duplicate the issue along with any error message text that you get, if any. Also, please provide the current version of your WordPress.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M

Hi,

Thanks for responding. Yes. I am trying to hide the widgets from specific pages. I want to hide the "foodgawker" and "10 recent posts" (which I call "hot right now" on my blog) from the blog's home page. I was able to control which pages which widgets appeared on before. But since I updated wordpress I cannot control the pages the are visible on. I have wordpress 4.1 installed. I am not getting any error messages. But even when I select the "hide" from "front page" option, the widgets still appear on the front page.

thank you!

Hello notacurry,

Thank you for your response. I do need a bit more information from you. I have a WordPress 4.1 installation but do not see where I can toggle widgets for display on specific pages. Is this a plugin of some sort? If so, please tell us the name so we can test it. If not, please provide the steps you normally follow to toggle the widgets for a page.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M

Hi Scott,
This is the widget toggle feature that comes with jetpack. Because I have this feature activated, when I go to appearance->widget, I am supposed to be able to control which page/post any widget appears on by clicking on the "visibility" tab under each widget. But it is not working as effectively.

Thanks!

Hello notacurry,

Thank you for the additional information. I have installed JetPack onto my 4.1 installation. I followed the directions you gave and can see exactly where you should be able to control the visibility of the widgets. I tried various combinations and was able to hide/show all default widgets without issue. Since it is working with default theme and installation, my next guess would be that it is either the theme or a plugin interfering. The easiest way to test for plugin interference is to disable the plugins and check to see if it works. if so, then reactivate them one at a time, testing in between. Once you reach a failure, then the last plugin you activated would be the culprit. It may just need an update itself.

To test for the theme (though unlikely) simply switch to a default theme like twentyfifteen and see if the issue remains.

Kindest Regards,

I did exactly what you said. Turns out that W3 total cache was interfering with the settings. I disabled it, and it's working fine now.

Thank you!
