You can set up Outlook 2010 to send and receive email from your email hosted at Web Hosting Hub.

First, log into your Outlook 2010.  Once you have opened up the application, we will add a new account:

  1. Click on File, and then Add Account.
  2. On the New Account screen, click the "Manually configure server settings" radio button and click "Next"
  3. Select "Internet E-Mail" on the next screen and click "Next".

Now you will fill in your User Information:

  • Your Name: Insert your full name here, as this is the name that will show when you send email
  • Email Address:  Put in your full email address, for example This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Next is your Server Information:

  • Account Type:  Select POP3 if you want the emails to be downloaded to Outlook 2010 and removed from the server.  Select IMAP if you want the emails to remain on the server. Please see the following article for more information on POP3 vs. IMAP.
  • Incoming Mail Server:  If your domain is pointed to Web Hosting Hub, the incoming mail server will be mail.yourdomain.com.  For example, mail.example.com would be the mail server for example.com.
  • Outgoing Mail Server: This will be the same as your Incoming Mail Server, mail.yourdomain.com.

Finally, you will fill in your Login Information:

  • User Name:  This will be your full email address.  For example, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  You will want to make sure to include the full address otherwise you will not be able to send email.
  • Password:  This is the password for the email account you listed above, and not the password for your cPanel.

Once you have filled in the information, click on the "More Settings..." button on the right as we need to change a few more settings.

  • Outgoing Server Tab:  On the outgoing Server Tab, make sure that "My outgoing server requires authentication" is checked, as well as "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
  • Advanced Tab: By default you do not need to change anything here, however if you are having trouble sending email then you can change the outgoing port.  This is also where you can change your settings to connect via SSL.  We discuss these changes in other articles in the Knowledge Database.

Click "OK" to go back to the Account Settings screen, and then click on "Next."  Congratulations, you have added your email account to Outlook 2010!

I have created our email account in Microsoft Outlook 2010.  I was able to receive successfully a test email I sent from another email account to the new account I created.  However, the test email I sent out from the new email account I created in Outlook is not sent out.  Error message says "OUtlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) email server".  Please advise.

Hello WMC,

Thank you for your question. Here is the guide on how to view your email settings in cPanel.

This often happens when a network is blocking ports. Since you are having trouble sending mail out, try changing your SMTP port setting.

For example, if you are using port 25, try port 587 instead.

If you are using port 587, try port 25.

If neither of these ports work, try port 465, with the secure SSL settings.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.
Thank you,

I have setup my account as paul@d...b.us, however, while Outlook (both 2010 and 2013) can send messages from this account, recieved messages are not picked up by outlook.  Any suggestions?  I have reinsatlled the accounts several times on both computers, still no luck.

-Paul

Hi,

I am trying to setup my email with Outlook 2010 and have not been able to do so. I get the message at the Test email screen which says 'your server does not support the connection encryption type'.... I have selected SSL, TLS and none but none works.

Thanks

Hello Jeffrey,

First try and get it to work in the most simple setup. Can you get it to work without SSL and TLS? Try that first and see if you still get any errors. You can then go from there as it helps narrow down where the issue is.

Hello Lynnette,

We know that email is working on all servers and have had no reports of servers refusing connections. This points more to the connecting program itself. I may be able to help guide you with these few questions: What changes did you make prior to the Outlook failing? Can you still log into the Webmail using the same credentials? What is the error message you are getting when trying to connect?

This is something more suited to ourLive Support as they can ask for specific information that is necessary to the connection to the server. You do not want to provide private information here in the public forums.

Kindest Regards,
