How to Add a Product in WooCommerce

Once you have gone through the WooCommerce installation process it is time for you to add your first product. Adding the product is simple, but there are a lot of advanced options available to customize your products. Also, the Add Product interface allows you to add important identifiers to your product that you will use when the time comes to manage your inventory.

Add Your Product

1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard
2. Click Products
on the left panel
3. Click Add Product

Under the Product name you will see a text field. This is where you can describe your product. Feel free to be as descriptive as necessary.

Below you will have a chance to write a Short Description.

When you click the Publish button on the right your product will go live.

Product Categories

You can assign Categories to your products. You can use these for your own internal organization or you can publish them as menu items to help your customers find what they're looking for. For example, if you sell Shirts you can make a "Shirts" category by itself or even add subcategories like "T-shirts", "Long-sleeve shirts," and more. In this example, "Shirts" would be the Parent Product Category.

Product Descriptions

Descriptions help provide important information about your product. You can provide any details your customers may be interested in. If you think this product is limited in some way then you ought to mention that because you will have a chance to "Up-Sell" your customer later.
