As you work with your Joomla 3 website, you will come across new releases of Joomla put out by the Joomla Developers. Currently, the Joomla developers released Joomla 3.1. The big question is "Should I upgrade to Joomla 3.1". This article will explain why you would upgrade to Joomla 3.1 or not.
If you are needing specific security fixes such as XSS and DOS Vulnerabilities, multi-language updates, PostgreSQL Driver, TinyMCE update and more, you will want to upgrade to Joomla 3.1. It is always recommended to keep your website security up to date as much as possible. If you have a know exploit, try upgrading to Joomla 3.1 to fix the exploit.
You do not need to upgrade your Joomla to 3.1 if you do not need the new feature or security fixes. Joomla 3.1 is a stable release; however, it is not a Long Term Support Release. For more information see the Joomla site at the following url:
It is best to upgrade your Joomla to the Long Term Support release because the developers will support the Long Term Support version for a long period of time.
You can upgrade your Joomla 3.1 version through Softaculous. Softaculous has a one click upgrade within it. For more information please read our tutorial on How to upgrade a program installed with Softaculous.
