Editing your Site's Menu

After you have created your website, you can now make your site more unique by changing the menu options.  Even though the menu itself can not be moved, you can change the bullet next to the menu items, change the order of the menu items, and also change what the menu displays.

Can I change the style of my menu links?

Each template has three different options for the menu style of your menu items.  You can change the style on the Design section of your Premium Web Builder, on the right side of the page:

You can select each one and click the Preview button at the bottom of the page to see which looks best for your website.

How do I change the order of the pages in my Menu?

After you have added the pages you want on your website, now you can re-arrange where they appear in the Menu.  For example, do you want the Photo Gallery and Blog under the About Me page?  Should the Contact Us page be on the very end?  You can make these changes in the Pages section of the Premium Web Builder.  The right hand column is called "your site structure," which shows the order of the pages on your website:

In this example, I have moved the My Family and the Resume pages to be subpages of the Home Page.  A subpage can be used if you want to have more then one page under a category.  For example, if you have "Meet the Team" page, you can make it so that each of your team members has a subpage within that section.  To do this, check the boxes you want to make a subpage and under Page position (highlighted above) select "Right."  To make a page no longer a subpage, you would select "Left."  To move the page farther down the menu, check the page and click on "Down."  To move the page farther up the menu, click "Up."  Note that there can not be a subpage of a subpage, so each page is only able to be moved "Right" once.

How do I change the name of my Menu pages?

Once the structure of your menu has been completed, you can change the menu titles so that they are not as generic.  First, go to the Edit section of the Premium Web Builder, and you will see your Site Map on the left hand side.  Click on the page that you want to change the menu title of. In this example, I will change the name of the Photos page:

Even though some templates show the menu on the left hand side, most templates will only display your menu at the top of the page and the bottom of the page.

The picture on the left is the default, with the Page title of "Photos" and the Page file name as "page9."  Here I have changed the Page title to "Nature Photos," which is unique and more descriptive, and changed the file name to "photos" so that when someone visits my website in the browser it will show www.mydomain.com/photos.php instead of /page9.php.  Click save, and now the menu looks like this:

By changing the menu titles, when someone visits your website instead of generic titles such as "Photos" or "Blog" they will see your own unique and more descriptive titles to your web pages.
