Below are a few steps you can take to optimize Drupal to allow it to run with more speed and more efficiency.

Enable Caching

To enable caching in Drupal, log into your Drupal admin page and go to Site Configuration > Performance.  Then make the following changes:

  • Under Caching mode: select Normal
  • Under Block cache: select Enabled

Click Save configuration to save the changes.

Optimize Database

The easiest way to optimize your database is to install the Database Maintenance (DBM) module (Click here for download page).

To use this go to Site Configuration > DB Maintenance then select the tables that you want to optimize and click "Optimize now."

Additional steps for better performance/caching

Go to Site Configuration > Performance and enable the following:

  • Page compression
  • Optimize CSS files
  • Optimize JavaScript files
