pretty-url-1In this guide we will show you how to turn the pretty URLs option in Concrete5 on. By default the pretty URLs option is disabled in Concrete5. This is why the URLs in the address bar will look like a strange combination of letters and numbers, rather than readable text.

When pretty URLs are enabled in Concrete5 the website URLs will display as readable text, which can help with your search engine optimization (seo).
Enabling Pretty URLs:

  1. Login to your Concrete5 Dashboard.
  2. Roll your mouse over the Dashboard button on top and click the  System & Settings option. You will now see the System & Settings menu.
  3. Under SEO & Statistics click Pretty URLs. This will bring up the pretty URLs menu.
  4. Select Enable Pretty URLs, then click the blue Save button on the bottom right.
You will see a confirmation message stating "URL rewriting enabled. We were able to automatically update .htaccess file."

Congratulations, now you know how to enable pretty URL's in Concrete5.
