The Preferences section of PrestaShop 1.6 has changed since the 1.5 release. Preferences is an important section of the PrestaShop installation because it allows you to set your store to use SSL/security settings, rounding modes, and multistore options. The following article will provide a description and instruction for each setting.

General Settings

In order to get to the Preferences - General section, first login to the PrestaShop 1.6 Administrator dashboard. Then, hover over the item labeled Preferences on the lefthand side of the screen. Each option is listed below.

  1. Enable SSL

Enable SSL - allows you create a secure connection between your shop and a visitor's web browser. Requires the use of an SSL certificate. Click on the link in order to enable the HTTPS protocol before enabling SSL. If you click on this link without an SSL certificate enabled, then you will get an error.

  2. Front Office Security

Increase Front Office Security - enabling this option turns on security tokens that are added to the URL each time a user visits your shop. This means that each session started by a visitor is specifically marked with a token that prevents the information from being copied into a different browser session; click on the yes/no slider to change the option

  3. Allow iframes

Allow iframes on HTML fields - This lets you put iFrames into text fields within yuor PrestaShop installation; click on the yes/no slider to change the option

  4. HTML Purifier library

Use HTML Purifier Library - HTML purifier allows you to accept information sent to your shop. It keeps the shop safe from malicious code. Do not disable this option unless absolutely necessary; click on the yes/no slider to change the option

  5. Rounding mode

Round mode - Lets you determine how you are rounding your prices. Prices can be rounded in three different ways:

Superior - Rounds the price up when calculated

Inferior - Rounds the price down when calculated

Classical - Rounds up when above .5 and down when below .5. For example, if the price was calculated to 25.6077777777, then it would be rounded to 25.61.

Click on the drop down menu to select one of the three rounding methods from above

  6. Display Suppliers and Manufacturers

Display suppliers and manufacturers - allows the display of supplier/manufacturer pages even when the modules are disabled; click on the yes/no slider to change the option

  7. Display best sellers

Display best sellers - displays the best selling products of your shop; click on the yes/no slider to change the option

  8. Enable Multistore

Enable Multistore - allows your installation to display multiple store fronts; click on the yes/no slider to change the option

  9. Change shop activity

Main Shop Activity - description of what your shop sells; click on the drop-down menu to select a different choice

  10. When you have completed making all of your changes, click on the SAVE button in order to save your selections.

After saving your changes, you can then proceed to review your PrestaShop store in order to work with any of the Preference settings that you have saved.
