As we continue our Concrete5 Education channel, the following series will cover Working with Groups & Permissions. This tutorial will guide you through creating a new group in concrete5.

When you create a group, it can help by allowing you to categorize particular users. This assists when searching for group articles, or setting permissions, which we will explain in the next guide.

How to create a new group:

  1. Login to your Concrete5 dashboard.
  2. Click on the Dashboard button on the top of the page. This will bring up the Dashboard Menu.
  3. Under the Members section select the User Groups option. This will bring up the Groups menu.
  4. Click the Add Group button on the right to bring up the Add Group menu.
    OptionDescription
Name Give the group a title, for example temporary contributors.
Description Provide further information on the group.
    Group Expiration Options

By selecting the box for Automatically remove users from this group you can set when the accounts will become inactive. This is useful in limiting this group's time frame to contribute.

Once you have made your selections click the blue Add button on the bottom right save.
Congratulations, you have created a new group! In the next guide we will show you how to work with permissions.
